Versteeg was born and brought up in Edinburgh, and graduated from the
University of Edinburgh with a First Class Honours degree in music. He
commenced postgraduate study in piano accompaniment at the Royal
Academy of Music in London in 2004, winning a prestigious Accompanist’s
Award from the Musician’s Benevolent Fund and performing with many
singers and instrumentalists. He studied with Michael Dussek, Graeme
Humphrey and Malcolm Martineau, and has played in masterclasses with
Julius Drake, Rudolf Jansen, Sir Robert Tear, Jane Manning, Robin
Bowman and the late Clifford Benson. Also an experienced repetiteur,
audition pianist and choral accompanist, Robin has worked with such
organisations as Edinburgh Grand Opera, Helensburgh Oratorio Choir, the
Royal Scottish National Orchestra Chorus, Cappella Nova Outreach and
Scottish Opera Education.
Alongside his piano playing, Robin
is in demand as a conductor. As an undergraduate at Edinburgh, with the
help of successive Clutterbuck travel scholarships, he studied
orchestral conducting in the Czech Republic and worked with many of the university's | |
